The following is the obituary of an old and respected resident of Boone County; Jerry W. Brown was born in Monroe County, Ohio, January 14, 1821, and died at the home of his daughter Mrs. Alice Price, near Zenorsville, Iowa, May 20, 1901. His wife was Miss Elizabeth Rogers, now deceased. They were the parents of three children one son and two daughters. Only one, Mrs. Price with whom he made his home, being left to mourn the loss of a loving parent. Father Brown had been a faithful and devout member of the M.E. church for thirty years before his death, but bore sickness patiently being always resigned fully to the will of his Master. His daughter had the sympathy of the entire community in her bereavement which fall up on her with double severity as she had but recently moved to this place from the southern part of the state, and is now left almost alone in the world being a widow and without father, mother, brother or sister. Father Brown was a brother of Jasious Brown, Sr., now deceased, and an uncle of Jasius, Jr., James K., W.F and Vincent Brown, of Jackson township. The funeral services were held at the home at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, by Rev. J.F. Baker of Ames, and interment was in the Ontario cemetery.
