On Aug. the 15th, 1886, at the residence of S.T. Corey, in Crete. Mrs. Ruth Corey, aged 81 years, 6 months and 13 days.
Mrs. Corey was born in 1802 in the state of New York, where she resided with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tanner till 1821, when she married Benjamin Corey, whom she survived but four years. In 1846, she, in company with her husband and children moved to Dodge county Wisconsin, where they remained until 1871, when they came to Crete, Nebraska, to reside with their children. Mr. Corey died in 1882. Since that time, Mrs. Corey has been in poor health, but has ever retained sufficient strength to visit among her children in Saline county until a few weeks ago, when she made her last trip on earth-from Wilber to Crete. Her sickness was of that character which always come as the inevitable consequence of old age, and through the struggle between life and death was long and painful, she had the satisfaction and her children the gratification of knowing that in her last hours, her wants were supplied by the affectionate watchfulness, tender sympathy, and willing hands of her sons and daughters who survive, all of whom were present at her death bed.
Those left to remember with pride her excellent qualities are J. K. Corey of Wilber, G.L. Corey of Lancaster county, Mrs. Mary Ettie Harris of Lincoln, A.B. Corey, of Rolla, Mo., Mrs. Roena S. Flint of Crete and S.T. Corey of Crete.
