Aubrey Solomon Dorn - August 9, 1911 - December 19, 2012 An educator and administrator in public schools in Tyler, Dallas and Austin for 46 years until his retirement, Aubrey held a Masters degree in Education from East Texas State University. He was active in scouting and received many awards including a Silver Beaver. Aubrey also worked with geologists in West Texas and Colorado during summer vacations and was on the staff at Friday Mountain Camp for many years. Preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Effie Lou Dorn, his parents James and Hattie Dorn, five sisters and one brother, Aubrey is survived by a daughter, Othelia Alford, a son-in-law, Bobby R. Alford MD, three grandchildren, Bradley K. Alford, Raye L. Alford, PhD and A. Scott Alford, JD, and three great-grandchildren, Brice G. Alford, Savannah L. Alford and Linleigh K. Alford. The family expresses their gratitude to his attentive angels, Brenda Washington, Jerlean Black, Bridgette Stewart, Mildred Hill and Leita Carter, and the staff at The Forum and Compassus Hospice for such good care.
