Obituary
Mrs. Jane Carr Mercer was born May 1st 1837 in Guernsey Co., Ohio, and was married to Jas. Turkle Feb. 1, 1854. They lived a peaceful and happy life for near forty years when he died. To them were born eleven children, six of whom were present at their mother's funeral July 8, 1904.
Some four or five years ago Mrs. Turkle was married to C. R. Mercer in Ohio and soon removed to Reno Co., Kans. She lived in Burrton for some months and then removed to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Barnes, nine miles southwest of Burrton where after a few weeks of poor health she died on July 6, 1904.
She was a devoted Christian from her childhood and was at the time of her death a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Burrton. She died in the faith.
The funeral services were conducted at the Presbyterian church seven miles west of Burrton, by Rev. C. M. Gray, and interment at the Hutchinson Cemetary.
