Early Life: John was born November 5, 1946, in Missoula, Montana, to Joseph and Laura Jean Eddy Dugal. He graduated from Loyola High School in 1966.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: In 1974, he earned a diploma as a heavy equipment mechanic at the Missoula Vo Tech. John enlisted in the United States Navy. He served from 1967 to 1971 aboard the aircraft carrier USS Constellation. He was extremely proud of his military service and was a member of the VFW, Vietnam Veterans of America, and the American Legion. He was also a member of the Missoula Hellgate Elks Lodge and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. John worked for Westmont Tractor in Missoula and Portland, Oregon. In 1988, he bought the Missoula Club Bar from his parents Joe and Jean Dugal. He later sold the "Mo Club" and moved to Hamilton, Montana. In 1993, John met Renée Balek at a Christmas party at the Missoula Elks Lodge. They were later married there on December 27, 1997. They shared 19 years together filled with a lot of love, laughter, fun and caring. John and Renée both had a love for AKC Papillons, toy butterfly dogs. They became breeders and established Sweet Heart Papillons in Hamilton. John was crazy about the Griz, Notre Dame football, golf, model trains, and pool. Memorable highlights in John's life were a trip to South Bend, Indiana, in 1996, with his father, sisters, and their families to see a Notre Dame football game; as well as his annual fishing trip to the Big Hole with his lifelong buddies. He especially loved his time in Augusta going to the rodeo, fishing and spending time with Renée's family. John Bernard Dugal passed away peacefully at his home with his wife and his beloved AKC Papillons at his side on Saturday, December 1, 2012, after an extended illness. He was 66.
Survived By: His wife, Renée; her daughters: Jamie (James) Dun, of England; and Crystal Tesinsky, of Portland, OR; sisters: Helena (Bernie) Cassidy, of Libby; and Teresa (Guy) Trenary, of Missoula; and several nieces and nephews.
