. A former Burlington Golden Gloves middleweight champion has succumbed to leukemia.
. He is Louis Virgil Adams, 28, who died Saturday at 10:32 p. m. in Veterans hospital, Iowa City. He had been suffering with the disease since July 3.
. A cab driver, he had lived in Burlington most of his life. However, he graduated from Oquawka, Ill., high school in 1944. He won the local golden gloves title in 1950.
. He was born in Burlington Nov. 22, 1925, the son of John William and Sigrid Marie Nelson Adams. June 24, 1946, he married Florence E. Wilborn in Burlington.
. Surviving are his father of Burlington: his wife and a son, Louis, Jr., and a daughter, Brenda Faye, of Oquawka; two sisters, Mrs. Lester Behrends of Mount Pleasant and Mrs. Donald Jost of Des Moines; four brothers, Robert and Richard of Buffalo Center, Donald of Des Moines and Warren. A sister, Evelyn, is dead.
. Services will be Wednesday at p. m. at Turnbull funeral home, Monmouth, Ill. The Rev. A. C. Hickerson will officiate. Burial will be in Oquawka.
