Lawrence "Larry" Beabout, 82, of Olney, died at 10:47 a.m. Thursday, December 18, 2008 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Olney with Rev. Scott Carlson officiating. Burial will be in Oblong Cemetery in Oblong with full military rites by Olney veterans organizations.

Mr. Beabout was born on November 12, 1926, in Crawford County, the son of Harry and Bernice (Newlin) Beabout. He married Earlene O'Dell on June 27, 1954, in Oblong. And she survives.

He graduated from Butler University in marketing, and also attended Johnson Bible College in Tennessee. He joined the Army on March 7, 1945. He retired from the Olney Radio Station WVLN-WSEI as Manager and in Sales. He was past vice president of the Chamber of Commerce, and Treasurer for the Junior Achievement Board. He served as a lay leader for First United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school for 42 years. His hobbies included woodworking, reading, bowling, hunting, fishing, archery and spending time with his grandchildren and friends.

Mr. Beabout is survived by wife, Earlene Beabout of Olney; son, Brad Beabout, his wife, Kathy and children, Blake and Bree, of Powell, Ohio; son, Ken Beabout, wife, Valerie, son, Britt and wife, Nicole, and daughter, Carly, and son, Ashton, of Brownsburg, Ind.; brother, Norman Beabout, of Evergreen, Colo.; and sister, Bernadine Bircher, of Door County, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Wendell and Harry (Hal Jr.)
