Elmer Gross, 71, of rural Huron died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1993, at his home.
The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 am Tuesday at the Bethel Mennonite Brethren Church of rural Yale, with the Rev. Elton Berg officiating.
Burial will be in the Bethel Mennonite Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 pm today at the Kuhler Funeral Home and prior to the church Tuesday at the church. The family will be present from 7 to 9 today at the funeral home.
He was born September 20, 1922 in Beadle County to Jacob J.A. and Anna (Wipf) Gross. He attended country school and attended Huron High School in 1940.
On July 11, 1943 he married Hazel Tschetter at rural Yale. In 1946 they moved to their current home, where they farmed for 47 years.
He was baptized and joined the Bethel Church in 1942. He served as an usher, church treasurer, and board member. He also served on the board of the Beadle Electric Cooperative for 16 years and was on the Iowa Township Board for many years.
Survivors include his wife of Huron; three sons and their wives, Jim and Patty, Dave and Paulette, all of Yale, and Wayne and Doreen of Circle Pines, Minn.; one daughter DeLane Schweitzer of Rapid City; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild; three sisters, Ella Minear of Huron, Mrs. Harry (Marie) Becker of Huron, and Mrs. Jake (Arlene) Diede of Everett, Washington; one sister-in-law, Faye Maase of Yale; one uncle and one aunt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, James and Daniel.
