It is recorded that on 11 March 1667, Tacy Hubbard and a another woman were the first settlers in the Colonies to observe the Sabbath. They were prominent members of the first Seventh Day Baptist church of Newport. They had separated from the First Day Baptist church after they were called to account for absenting themselves from the "breaking of bread".

all the stones were removed and put in a rock wall on the property. Only one stone has been found so far of the ones removed, that of Samuel Hubbard.
