Minerva was the daughter of Strachan/Strahon Monk and Talitha Cherry, who moved from Martin Co., North Carolina, to Davidson Co., Tennessee, about 1816. The family eventually settled in Hardin Co., Tennessee, where Minerva married Moses, son of Wilson Richard Batchelor and Alcie Odom, about 1838. In 1848, the family came to Arkansas, settling in Hot Spring Co. near the present community of Poyen in Grant Co. Minerva's burial site is not known. Moses is buried in Lindsey Cemetery with his second wife Louisa Waters (Robertson).
