She and Ernst owned and operated a dairy farm near St. John Lutheran Church on County Rd M., near Town of How, WI. They had seven children (Robt. Friedrich Emil, Justine Ella Margareta, Gustav Paul, Henry Frank Otto, Martha Augusta Clara, Rudolph Paul Robert and Elizabeth Amma Frieda) and were lifetime members of the church. All of their children were baptized and confirmed at the church.
Ida Free(widowed) and her two children moved in with the family for several years. In 1929, the eldest son Robert took over the farm. Ernst resided there until his death.
