According to an obit, published by The Cinti Enquirer, dated 24 May 2000, Hester Bedinger Guard, was over one hundred years old, when she died, age 101. Hester was of Vevay, Indiana, but formerly of Walton, KY. She also was a retired teacher for Taylor School in North Bend, Ohio, and a longtime member of the Methodist Missionary Society.
At her death, she left one son (Thomas Everett Guard), four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren to cherish their memories. She died in ___, on the Monday before her obit's publication. She was the beloved wife of Mr. Shirley Hugh Guard whose dates are newly confirmed as (1886/1967). According to the handwritten Hardin Bible Family Record page which Thomas Everett Guard shared with me, c2003, Shirley Hugh Guard married Mary Hester Bedinger, 4 Apr 1929.
Update, Oct 2016: Thankfully a new flat marker has been acquired by Thomas Everett Guard to honor his parents' resting place. On this marker his mother's name is spelled Hester M. Guard, which places Mary as her middle name rather than her first name. Hester was her preferred name that she was called, so in order to align with Tom's new marker and with Hester's personal preference, I have adjusted her findagrave name to read "Hester Mary Bedinger Guard" which varies from her birth name, nee Mary Hester Bedinger.

The grave marker shows her date of birth as 30 Sept. 1898, whereas the original date of birth given for her was 29 Oct 1898 -- so her date of birth here on findagrave has been altered to match her new tombstone.
