ROYCE W. MOORE, 91, of Wichita Falls, formerly of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at the House of Hope in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Graveside funeral services were at 10 a.m. Friday, December 7, at Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche, Oklahoma, with the Rev. Dean Hall officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Carter-Smart Funeral Home.
Royce was born April 23, 1921, in Comanche, to Austin V. and Maude (Killen) Moore. He was a graduate of Comanche High School in 1939. He was a pumper and gauger for Sun Oil and Tosco Oil for 35 years, retiring in 1983.
He had many hobbies that he loved, hunting, fishing and and spending time on his farm. He always had a big garden that he and his wife share with friends and strangers alike.
He married Mozella Willeford on October 25, 1945 in Duncan, soon after his return from Germany where he had been a prisoner of war. She preceded him in death on July 24, 2010. Royce enjoyed life to the fullest and had an ideal marriage for 64 years.
Royce is survived by two sons, Rusty Moore and his wife Mary of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Fred Moore and his wife Janett of Bandera, Texas; grandchildren, Josh Moore of Cleburne, Texas, Jayci Lawson of Fort Worth, Texas, Justin Moore of Spring, Texas, Mandy Moore of Katy, Texas, John Montague and Charlie Montague, both of Bandera; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Royce was also preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Maude Moore; a sister, Lavon McCourtney; and three brothers, Killen, Jean and Swayne Moore.
