Civil War Veteran - 16th Wisc. Reg., Co. C, Rank: Private. Served 3 yrs, 8 mo., 5 days. His father David Winebrenner died of disease in the war, and his brother Henry also fought during the same time period.

DIED -- Joseph Dale WINEBRENNER, a former well known resident of this city, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. B. Crow, Los Angeles, CA., Thrusday morning, October 31st. Several weeks previous to his death the suffered a stroke of apoplexy and his health had been declining ever since. He was ninety years of age.

He was born in the state of Pennsylvania on July 13th, 1840. He resided there until nine years of age when he came to this city with his parents. He grew to manhood here and on July 13th, 1867, was united in marriage with Miss Amelia Gunn of Ripon, WI. They continued their residence here, Mr. Winebrenner going to Lo Angeles about eight years ago.

He was prededed in death by his wife on February 21, 1912 and is survived by the following children: Edward of this city; Mrs. Herman Pankopf, Hollywood, CA; Mrs. B. Crow, Mrs. Edward Schultz and Albert Winebrenner of Los Angeles, CA; and Mrs. Archie McIntosh of Riverside, CA. Two daughters, Mrs. Clara Noyes and Miss Lillian Winebrenner preceded their father in death. Two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Albertson of Columbus, WI., and Mrs. Mary Congdon of Bangor, WI., nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.

The remains were brought to this city for interment beside his wife in Oakwood Cemetery. The funeral services were held at the Briese and Heilmann Chapel at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon and were conducted by Rev. W.H. Wiese.
