Carmela (Verducci) Baratta, 94, of Point Pleasant, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011, at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach, Fla. Born in Hoboken, she lived in Jersey City prior to moving to Point Pleasant 35 years ago.

Carmela was predeceased by her husband, George G. Baratta, in 2000.

Surviving are her son, George G. Baratta Jr. of Short Hills; two daughters, Theadora Sullivan of Lake Mohawk, and Marti Mirisola of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and one sister, Margaret Beck of Wilkes Barre, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 7 at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Highway 88, Brick. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 8 at the funeral home, followed by interment at Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in her name to the American Heart Association .
