Ilona Anna (Helen) Fintor, daughter of János (John) Fintor (1867-1923) and Ilona (Helen) Gacsályi(1866-1936)was born in Fülpösdarócz a small village in present day Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county,in the Northern Great Plain region of eastern Hungary. She came to America on Mar 21, 1912 with her half-brother Sándor (Alex) Gacsály to join her aunt Mária Gacsályi-Bunna. Although her father, János was working in Springdale, she stayed with her aunt until her mother's arrival from Hungary on Apr 14, 1913 with the remaining children, Etelka (14), Jozsef (12) and István (6) at which time the family was re-united.
On July 23, 1912 she married Zsigmond (James) Szabó in Allegheny County, PA.
In 1914 she and her husband moved to East Chicago, IN, along with her brother-in-law, Károly Szabó, where their first two sons were born. The family subsequently moved to Cleveland where their third son was born in 1919. They finally settled in Lorain, OH around 1920-1.
