John H. Bales, one of the well known and leading men of Wayne township, died at his home on Wednesday night. He purchased the farm on which he died near fifty years ago, and had all this time been one of the leading, honorable and influential citizens of the county. His disease was cancer from which he had been for many weeks a great sufferer. His children were all with him at the time of his death. The funeral services will occur tomorrow (Saturday) at 10 o'clock, at the late home of the deceased. The remains will be buried in Greensboro after[wards].
