The death of Charley Sterling occurred unexpectedly last Tuesday morning about eight o'clock. He was brought here from Mountain Lake last Saturday, and was at that time quite sick, having been too weak to be dressed for the trip, but as he had not been feeling well for some time his condition was not regarded as alarming, and no one thought the end was so near. For weeks, he had suffered with a severe pain in his head, but his debility did not assume an acute form until Thursday. The physicians who attended him diagnosed the case as inflammation of the brain. He went to Mountain Lake last October to start in the practice of law. As he had not been feeling well during the winter he came home to be cared for and had not recovered when he returned two months ago. Deceased was the youngest son of Mrs. Mary Sterling, and was born in April, 1878, at Waterville, the former home of the family being 26 years old at the time of his death. Besides the grief-stricken mother, one sister and three brothers survive to mourn the untimely departure of the brother, who had just entered upon a career that was full of promise, and was about to realize the hopes of the future. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Crickmer at the Episcopal church yesterday afternoon and the interment was made at Cedar Hill cemetery beside the graves of the father and sister who have been buried there in recent years.
