Paralytic Stroke Caused Death
Mrs. Mary Sterling died at her home in the village Saturday morning following a stoke of paralysis. Neighbors discovered her laying near the back door where she was stricken and help was summoned.
Mary R. Parker was born in Attica, N. Y. July 14, 1846, and was married Feb. 22, 1865 to Wallace M. Sterling. They came to Minnesota in 1869 and lived on a farm north of Elysian for about ten years, when the family moved to the village to make their home.
Three sons and one daughter are left to mourn her departure: Starr of Minneapolis; Byron of Buffalo Center, Ia.; Will of Elysian, and Mrs. Clara Hoffmann of Janesville township. One son and a daughter preceded her to the grave, also her husband, who died here 22 years ago. Six grand-children, Laurence in France, Eka of Buffalo Center, Wallace at Camp Hancock, Ga., Ester of Watertown, S. D., Gretchen and Charles Hoffman of Janesville township.
The funeral was held from the home on Monday afternoon, Rev. Skewes officiating, and interment made at Cedar Hill cemetery.
