Dena I. Barnes, 82, resident of Bartlesville, died Friday, December 7, 2012 at her home. Dena I. Barnes was born December 21, 1929 at Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Harry Van and Mary Emma (Dulany) Neher.

She grew up in the Bartlesville, Ramona and Oglesby, Oklahoma areas and graduated high school at Ramona, Oklahoma in 1948. Mrs. Barnes lived in Washington State for two years while her parents were employed in the ship yards during WWII. She returned to Bartlesville and was married to Ray Barnes on July 30, 1949 at the Lutheran Church; they were married for 63 years. Mr. and Mrs. Barnes made their home in Ochelata from 1950 to 1961 when they moved back to Bartlesville. Mrs. Barnes was employed for many years as a secretary at Wayside Elementary School where she touched the lives of many children. Dena's favorite pastimes were fishing and spending time with family.

Survivors include her husband Ray Barnes of the family home in Bartlesville; two sons Terry Barnes of Bartlesville and Allan Barnes of Stillwater, Oklahoma; two daughters Karen Wilson and her husband Bobby of Nowata and Carole Henry and her husband Clarence of Bartlesville; fourteen grandchildren Justin Wilson, Torrey Barnes, Cody Barnes, Zachary Barnes, Dusty Barnes, Jesse Barnes, Jace Barnes, Mark Barnes, Miranda Hulsey, Joe Barnes, Marissa Martin, Brandon Martin, Jason Henry and Megan Gill; five great-grandchildren Parker Barnes, Liam Grahlert, Hunter Hulsey, Jordan Hulsey and Madison Barnes.

Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her parents and two great-grandchildren Ryan Barnes and Trenton Woody.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 in the East Cross United Methodist Church with Pastor Jeff Burrus officiating, assisted by E.J. Barnes of Trenton, Missouri. Cremation arrangements were directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
