Wife of George Buckingham III. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Edgerton. According to her obit, she was the first white baby born in what was then Idaho (now Montana).

"During Mr. Edgerton's absence in the east, the historic stork alighted at the gubernatorial log cabin upon the banks of the Grasshopper, and left a little blue eyed baby girl, who was named Idaho, and became the idol of the capital town of Montana."

Francis M. Thompson was a close personal friend of Sidney Edgerton and his family. All were residents living in Bannack, Idaho Territory, when that territory was created in March of 1863, and which, at that time, comprised all of present day Idaho and Montana, and most of Wyoming. In January of 1864 Judge Edgerton was selected to travel to Washington, D. C., to lobby for the creation of a new territory to be carved from Idaho Territory and to be called Montana Territory. That was accomplished on May 26, 1864, with Bannack being designated as the territorial capital and with Sidney Edgerton appointed as the first territorial governor. It's interesting to note that had the baby Lucia waited several more days to enter the world, she may well have been named Lucia "Montana" Edgerton.
