Mr W P Hedrick who has been spending the week in the city while his wife has been undergoing an operation at the Hinton Hospital, received a message here last evening that his father A S Hedrick was dead, the details of which he could not learn. The message said that the father was dead and that he would be brought here today by carriage from Flat Top at which place he died yesterday. Mr Hedrick has been making his home with his sons at Fayette, but recently decided to pay his brother a visit at Flat Top, Mr Geo W Hedrick, formerly sheriff of Raleigh county. The old gentleman left apparently in the best of health and his death was a great surprise to all of his friends and relatives.
Mr Hedrick was about eighty years of age and a highly respected farmer living near Fayette, where he has made his home for over thirty years. He leaves two sons and five daughters, all married, one son J T Hedrick, is a merchant at Mabscott and the other a farmer at Fayette where he made his home.
The cause of his death could not be correctly ascertained at this writing but it is supposed that the infirmities of old age was the principal cause. His remains was to have gone thru on Thirteen today, but owing to some fault of the proper certificates it was decided to keep him over until morning.
