Charlotte Tattnall was the eldest daughter of Commodore Josiah and Henrietta F. Tattnall. Her father was a confederate officer during the Civil War and died in Savannah where he and his wife are laid to rest. Charlotte was in Portland ME when she died at the age of 48 in 1871. The cause of her death was a tumor. Her connection to Portland isn't clear; she was not recorded in the 1870 census or 1871 directory for Portland and she's the only person of this surname known to be buried at Eastern Cemetery. No gravestone has survived for her there.
