Mr. Winfred E. Ginn, 91, of Thorntown, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Parkwood Health Care Center, Lebanon.

He was born Aug. 27, 1921, in Parke County, to Earl and Addie (Perkins) Ginn, both now deceased. He graduated from Clinton County Jackson Township school in 1939.

Mr. Ginn married Elizabeth R. Taylor on March 9, 1943, in Athens, Ga. She died July 21, 2003.

He served in the army from 1942 to 1945 during World War II. He then went back to farming in Jefferson Township, where he farmed until retiring in 2002. He was honored with the Breeders and Feeders Award in 1997.

Mr. Ginn was Jefferson Township Trustee for 15 years. He was a member of Dover Christian Church, and was very active in church functions as a deacon and elder. He was a past president of Dover Cemetery for 15 years. He was also a member of the Thorntown American Legion, and the Boone County Co-Op for 20 years.

Survivors include three sons, Jim Ginn of Thorntown, Dan (Kathie) Ginn of Newburgh and Dave (Janice) Ginn of Carmel; four grandchildren, Alan Ginn, Kasey Ginn, Julie Ginn and Dylan Ginn; and two great-grandchildren, Kendra Rider and Cameron Rider.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and five brothers.

Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at Russell & Hitch Funeral Home, 223 N. Meridian St., Lebanon. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at Dover Christian Church, 955 Ind. 75, Lebanon, with the Rev. Jerry Holdman and the Rev. John Puckett officiating. Burial with military graveside rites will be in Dover Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Dover Christian Church or Dover Cemetery.
