The 1840 census revealed Absolam and two others worked in agriculture. They were living in West of North Fork, Burke County, North Carolina. Household members: Absolem Hoyle (30-39), Mary (30-39), John (10-14), Eli (5-9), Nicholas (under 5), Sarah & Susan (10-14), Fanny (5-9) and Adeline & Patience (under 5).

The 1850 census revealed Absolom was a farmer and their real estate value was $1450. They were living in Burke County, North Carolina. Mary could not read or write. Household members: Absalom Hoyle (40), Mary (38), Sarah (23), John (21), Eli (17), Fanny (16), Adeline (15), Nicholas (13), Patience (11), Joshua (9), Oma (7) and George (1).

The 1860 census revealed their real estate value was $2000 and personal property value was $400. Household members: Absolem Hoffle (50), Mary (50), Mary A. (22), Patience (20), Joshua (18), Omy (15) and George (11).

Probate of September 30, 1867 revealed Absolam's sons, Eli and Nicholas were the executors of his estate.

Absolam lived to age 66.
