FAIRMONT — Emma Virginia Smith, 95, passed quietly from this life early Tuesday morning (July 5, 2011) at the Tygart Center in Fairmont, where she had been a resident for several months.
She was born in West Union on Oct. 4, 1915, a daughter of the late Dennis and Iva Dye LeMasters.
She was an active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. She retired from Owens-Illinois Glass Plant in 1974 with more than 30 years of service. She was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Moose Lodge, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Quarter Century Club of Owens-Illinois. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, sewing and drawing.
Mrs. Smith is survived by one brother, Gilbert LeMasters of Fairmont; one sister, Sylvia Rutherford of Fairmont; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Edward Smith, in 1976; one brother and one sister-in-law, Wilbert LeMasters and Loretta LeMasters; and three sisters and three brothers-in-law, Leona Brenneman, Thelma and Junior Furbee, Ima Jean and Steve Bingamond, and Frank Rutherford.
Friends may call at Frey Home For Funerals (Addition Chapel A), 320 Madison St., Fairmont, from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday. Services will be held in the funeral home at 10 a.m. Friday. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
