Herman Weiland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Weiland of 922 North Eddy street, was the second victim of drowning in the lake at the new resort when he lost his life Sunday. He had gone to the lake Sunday with his brother Andy and Pat Malone, and later joined the throng of bathers. He had become separated from his brother and friend and when evening came he had not come home for supper. Nothing was thought of this however as he often had stayed away. About midnight nothing had been seen or heard from him and only in the morning did the family realize he may have drowned. A search was made at the bath house and his clothes found there, so the case was immediately reported to the police and the search for the body begun. It was not until late in the afternoon when the body was found in twelve feet of water about 15 feet outside of the safety line.

Herman Weiland was 19 years of age and survived by his parents, four sisters and five brothers. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning from St. Mary's Catholic church, Rev. Father Heimes officiating.
