George H. Cuthbert 1919 ~ 2003 MIDVALE - George Herbert Cuthbert, 84, died Friday, September 12, 2003 at Manor Care Nursing Center in South Ogden. He was born February 9, 1919 in Brigham City, a son of Herbert Leonard and Sarah Jane William Cuthbert.George and Elaine Hyde were married December 15, 1942 in Kaysville. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They enjoyed 60 years together. He had lived in Brigham City, Bingham Canyon where he graduated from Bingham High School Class of 1936, and then in Midvale for most of his life. South Ogden had been his residence for the past two and a half years. George was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as a Home Teacher and High Priest Group Secretary. As a veteran of World War II, he had served with the U.S. Army for two years as a Tech Sgt. George retired from Kennecott Copper Mine where he worked for 44 years as a boilermaker/machinist. George enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, leather work and putting together model airplanes. Surviving are his wife, Elaine, of South Ogden; one daughter, Kathleen "Kathie" (Val) Adams, Mtn. Green; and two grandchildren, Matthew (Emily) Adams, West Valley City; G. Bradley Adams, Mtn. Green. Also surviving are one brother and one sister, Leon (Monica) Cuthbert, Northridge, CA; and Amy Blaney, Kearns, UT. His parents, sister, Lois and brother, Earl, preceded George in death. Funeral services will be held at the graveside on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville City Cemetery, where Military Honors will be accorded. Friends may call at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Email condolences to the family at: [email protected].
