Oquawka. Ill.-- George Wesley Decker. long-time resident of Henderson county. died in Monmouth Ill. hospital, Feb. 26. at 11 p. m.
Decker, who was 73 years of age, had been in failing health for ii years. He was suffering from a heart ailment and complications.
A button-cutter, gardener and fisherman by occupation. Decker was born April 10, 1874, Hamden Junction. Ohio, the son of John and Ellen Decker.
He came Henderson county as a young man. and on Christmas Day, 1895, was married to Matilda Rummens of Strong-burst. After living for a while at Stronghurst, the family moved to Keithsburg. They came to Oquawka 40 years ago.
Surviving are the widow and 8 children: Mrs. Martha Ricketts, Good Hope: Mrs. Alma Goempler, Moline; Leonard Decker, Galesburg; Mrs. Mildred Ryner and Glenn Decker, Burlington. and Mrs. Hazel Jern and Wayne and Richard Decker, of Oquawka.
Also surviving are 15 grand children and 13 great-grand children. A daughter, Beatrice, died 11 years ago.
Last rites will be held in the Oquawka Presbyterian church at 2 p. m. Saturday. Burial will be in the Oquawka cemetery.
