Mrs. Leola Barham Williams, 91, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at Wesley Long Hospital.
Mrs. Williams' funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 29, at Liberty Wesleyan Church with Rev. Danny Janes and Rev. Rick Church officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A native of Rockingham County, Mrs. Williams was born on April 12, 1921, the daughter of the late Howard E. Barham and Clara Rogers Barham. Mrs. Williams attended Liberty Wesleyan Church for most of her life, and was retired from Lorillard Tobacco Company. Well-loved in her community, she was known for being a caring neighbor: visiting the sick, taking food to families, and cleaning others' homes. She enjoyed the simple things in life like just sitting and enjoying the warmth of the sunshine.
Surviving are her children Curmillious D. Williams, Jr., Savannah D. Hankins, Cynthia Leola Barham, and Guy W. Williams, eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Curmillious D. Williams, Sr., a son Gary Lee Williams, brothers Cleo Barham, Roy Barham, and H. E. Barham, and a sister Ruby Hudson.
The family will receive friends this evening, Wednesday, from 7 until 9 p.m. at Forbis & Dick Brooke Chapel, and other times at Mrs. Williams' home.
