A funeral service for David A. Stinson, age 70, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at Central Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 24, 2012, with Rev. Bruce Stinson and Mike Hasten officiating. Interment will follow at City Cemetery, with Sam Callahan, Tony Cook, Glen Friddle, Bobby Harris, Wayman Keen, Doyle McKinzie, Tommy Moore, Bill Stewart, Oscar Aguilar and James Hulen serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Hodge, Clyde Browning, Frank Brandon and members of TFDA. Visitation will be one hour before the service (1:00 p.m.). David A. Stinson passed away Tuesday morning, November 20, 2012 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Sulphur Springs on June 9, 1942, the son of Cecil Grady Stinson and Rose Joyce (Wilkins) Stinson. He married Joanne Mayes in Quinlan, on October 15, 1965; she survives. He was retired after 47 years as a funeral director. He was a 1960 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School and a 1984 graduate of Dallas Institute of Funeral Service. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Vocational Educational Advisory Committee of S.S.I.S.D., Gideons, Pi Sigma Etta Scholastic Honor Fraternity and president of the 1984 class of Dallas Institute of Funeral Service and former member of Board of Webb Hill Cemetery Association. He was past president of East Texas Funeral Directors and also Funeral Director of the Year. Other survivors include: daughter, Debbie Stinson; son Bruce Stinson and wife, Gina and grandchildren, Savannah and Tucker Stinson, all of Sulphur Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ann Adams. Memorials may be made to Hospice at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital, Children's Ministry at Central Baptist Church and/or Dinner Bell at First United Methodist Church.
