Reba M. Cressler, 87, of 9192 Pineville Road, Shippensburg, died on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at her residence.

Born on May 2, 1921, in Carlisle, she was a daughter of the late Harry E. and Elsie Gayman Bowers.

Reba was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Shippensburg, where she served on the Altar Guild. She was an avid gardener, and was especially proud of her roses. She enjoyed making flower arrangements and many of her creations were bestowed on friends, family and her church. Another hobby was knitting, and many are still being warmed by her handiwork.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Arthur B. Cressler; her two daughters, Bonita K. (and her husband, Raymond) Kress of Shippensburg and Christine M. (and her husband, George) Pensinger of Chambersburg; her son, David A. (and his wife, Vonnie) Cressler of Shippensburg; two sisters, Jean (and her husband, Charles) Donnelley of Camp Hill and Edna (and her husband, Sylvester) Snyder of Carlisle; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Eldon, John, Lester and Kenneth Bowers, and six sisters, Louetta Bowers, Isabel Burkholder, Kathryn Roth, Betty Worley, Mary Kutz and Alda Mentzer.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Grace United Church of Christ, Shippensburg. The Rev. George W. Heckard will officiate. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. A visitation will be held 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the church
