Iona Liberty Spears, 94, of Ft. Madison, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2012 at 9:35 a.m. at her home. She was born on September 28, 1918 in Peoria, IL to John O. & Myra C. Alberssen Hulit. She married Robert Spears on October 19, 1937 in Peoria, IL. He preceded her in death on December 7, 1994. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Galesburg, IL.
Iona is survived by: 1-son: Robert (Teresa) Spears of Galesburg, IL; 4-daughters: Roberta (Bernie) Crilly of Peoria, IL, Beverly (Ed) Morgan of Hardy, AR, Regina (Doug) Rademacker of Victoria, IL & Dollie (Rusty) Boyd of Fort Madison, IA; 25-grandchildren; 41-great grandchildren; 14-great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents, husband, 5-sons, 1-daughter, 2-grandchildren & 1-sister.
Per her wishes, her body has been cremated by King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory and no services are planned at this time. A memorial has been established for the Defender of Veterans Home in Galesburg, IL and contributions may be sent to Dollie Boyd, 2127 330th Avenue, Fort Madison, IA 52627.
