When a baby, his parents moved to Thornton, W. Va. Her he grew to manhood. In the spring of 1871, he came to Nebraska and took a homestead about seven miles southwest of Shickley. This was his home for eight years. In 1883, he moved to Davenport and entered the drug business. In 1889 he moved to Shickley and had been in active business ever since. In years of active business, he was the oldest man in Shickley.
In 1884 he was united in marriage to Ella Holsinger at Davenport. To this union three children were born, all of whom survive. He leaves to mourn his departure, his faithful wife, one son, Royal, two daughters, Mrs. Irene Aydelott, and Mrs. Nannie Troemper; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two sisters, other relatives and many friends.
The funeral service was held from the home in Shickley September 10, 1933, at 3 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Ernest Gaither. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Elsie Engel, Mrs. Carl Wennersten, L. E. Wilson and Glenn Hoag, with Mrs. Bess Fischer at the piano. Interment was in the Shickley cemetery.
