Sadie Beasley (1925-2012)
Sadie Norman Beasley, the most amazing wife, mom, Mimi, and friend finished her race in this life as we know it and met her maker victoriously at 3 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012 at her home with her loving family surrounding her. A celebration of life for Sadie will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012 at First Baptist Church Bonham. The Rev. Morgan Malone and Dr. Allen Reed will preside over the services. Family will receive friends from 2 -3 p.m. prior to the service. Pall bearers for the service will be Jon Sisk, Scott Miller, Neil Boatright, Donovan Avery, Randy Bowen, all of Bonham, and Bill Puckett of Madison, Miss.
Sadie was born on Dec. 24, 1925 (a Christmas Eve baby) to Richard Creighton and Rachel Elizabeth Norman. Sadie was the baby girl of eight children. Sadie graduated from Gallman High School, Gallman Miss. in 1944 and began work at Allred's Drug Store in Hazlehurst, Miss. It was there that Sadie met the love of her life Bill Beasley. The war had ended and Bill had come in to the store to thank the owner for a care package he had received while overseas as a POW in Germany. When Bill walked in it was love at first sight and three months later Bill and Sadie were married. They were married for 66 years and would have completed 67 years on November 15. Sadie attended East Texas Baptist University and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education in 1951. She taught school for 30 years, most of which were at Bailey Inglish Elementary in Bonham. Sadie was beloved by her students and her coworkers as a devoted and accomplished teacher. Sadie played a major role in her husband's success as a Baptist minister. She held many roles in the church including working with youth, Sunday school teacher, bridal consultant, and a wonderful Christian example for all women of the church. She was a member of First Baptist Church Bonham for 40 years. Sadie enjoyed ministering to others and investing in people was her hobby. She began a Sunday School Class at First Baptist that is today named Sadie's willing workers. This class meant the world to Sadie and they shared her love and devotion for ministering to others, and the legacy and purpose of this class will reach into the future for many years.
Sadie was a wonderful mother to two daughters, and a grandmother to one grandson. Her family, especially her grandson Reid, was the light of her life no questions asked. To them she was the steel magnolia which always saw the good in others and believed in prayer. Sadie's faith was characterized by her friends and family as unshakeable. She had a testimony which reached many people from all walks of life, with her own twist of Southern charm.
Sadie was preceded in death by her parents Richard Creighton and Rachel Elizabeth Norman. She was also preceded in death by her three adoring sisters; Boots Bailey, Nell Pitts, and Odie Johnson, and two brothers Elbert Ray Norman, Richard Creighton Norman Jr.
Sadie is survived by Rev Bill Beasley spouse of her home; two daughters, Betty Sorrels of Bonham, and Stephanie and Todd Strickland and grandson Reid of Bonham. She is also survived by two brothers, Clyde Joseph Norman of Hampton, Va., and Robert Dudley Norman of Hazlehurst, Miss. She is survived by many friends of all walks of life and all ages whom she found time to befriend and love.
Sadie was the true essence of grace and class. She will be missed by many especially her loving family, however, there is no doubt that this child of God heard, Well done thy good and faithful servant, well done.
