Mr. Bannister was born in Fairmount to Walter and Rebecca Eva Wilson and lived in this area most of his life.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Fairmount American Legion Post No. 313, Fairmount Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Marion Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Phyllis) Nantz, Swayzee; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hunt Funeral Home, 415 S. Main St., Fairmount, with the Rev. Ella Nichols officiating. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Fairmount.
