RUSSIA-- Vaughn R. Gates, 57, of 222 Elizabeth Court, Russia, formerly of Sidney, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005 at 11:55 p.m.

He was born Feb. 16, 1947 to Warren and Catherine (Eiler) Gates of Sidney.

He is survived by three children, Darren V. Gates of Jackson Center, Monica M. Black of Minster and Melissa K. Bray of Russia; a brother, Dennis Gates of Sidney; a sister, Brenda Hall of Blytheville, Ark.; and 10 grandchildren.

His fiance, Sonia Allen and her son Rob North of Dayton, also survive.

He was preceded in death by his father, Warren Gates; and a grandson, Travis Bray.

Mr. Gates was employed in the luggage department of the Dayton International Airport.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 26 at 1 p.m. at the New Hope Church of God, 9101 County Road 25A, Piqua. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Phillip Elmore.

Donations may be made to the family or to State of the Heart Hospice of Darke County.
