WM. SUPALLA PASSES AWAY
William Supalla, 80, Pleasant Plain farmer, passed away at Mt. Pleasant Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. Mr. Supalla had been in poor health and suffered a stroke a few weeks ago.
He was born in Poland, January 10, 1865 and came to the United States at the age of 16. For a number of years he resided in Chicago. He was married to Francis Drish (sic. Frances Drish) of Pleasant Plain on May 14, 1888. For a short time the couple made their home in Chicago, but most of their 57 years of married life had been spent in the Pleasant Plain community.
He is survived by his wife and nine children: Stephen Supalla, in the armed forces in Hawaii; George Supalla of Easton, Minn.; Anthony, Joseph and Herman Supalla all of Pleasant Plain; Mrs. Ed Wittmer of Germanville; Mrs. Glen McClain (sic. a/k/a Mrs. Glenn McClain) of Chicago; Mrs. Howard Hess of Harper; Mrs. Walter Wehr of Council Bluffs; 38 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, and one brother, Frank Supalla of Chicago. One daughter, Mrs. Nellie Minard (sic. Mineart), preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 25, at 9:30 a.m. at East Pleasant Plain. Rev. Paul Wetzstein will be in charge. Burial will be at the East Pleasant Plain cemetery.
The body will be taken from the P. A. Hoskins Funeral home, Pleasant Plain to the Supalla home this afternoon. Rosary services will be held at the home this evening.
