According to Germany, Select Births and Baptisms records, 1558 – 1898, Carl Frederich Boknecht was born on November 26, 1841, in Prussian Oldendorf, Westphalia, Prussia, Germany. He was the son of Ernst Friedrich and Anne Marie Quade Boknecht. He was baptized on December 5, 1841.

According to the 1860, 1900 and 1910 federal censuses, he went by Frederick Brokeneck; Fred C. Boknecht; and Fredrick Boknecht. The Indiana DC listed him as Frederick Brocknecht.

He married Margaret Roberts on September 10, 1881, in Jackson County, Indiana. She died on April 22, 1887.

He then married Anna Jennie Roberts on October 24, 1887, in Jackson County, Indiana.

BOCKNECHT. – Fred E. Bocknecht, aged 68 years, died of consumption about 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the home of his sister, Mrs. Henry Cordes near Oak Grove. The deceased leaves seven children and his sister, Mrs. Cordes. He came to this country when he was about six years of age and has lived here since that time.

The funeral services held at two o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Borchers Church, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Gerkensmeyer. Burial at the family cemetery on his farm.
