Alta graduated from Huntingdon High School as part of the class of 1950. She retired from Pennsylvania Blue Shield in Camp Hill. Alta was a lifelong auxiliary member of Mechanicsburg VFW #6704, and an auxiliary member of Dillsburg American Legion Post #26. Alta was the last of nine children.
Alta's survivors include her loving children, James T. Whitesel of Enola, Susan J. Dellinger and husband Robert of Lewisberry, Shirley R. Fishel and husband Randall of York Springs; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation and services were private.
