Mr. Elrige "Duck" Baxter, age 83, of Commerce, died on Thursday, November 22, 2012, at his residence.
Mr. Baxter was born in Commerce to the late Henry Gilbert and Clara Beard Baxter. He was a member of Erastus Christian Church and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service, Commerce office.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Baxter was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Adams Baxter; brother, Mickey Baxter; and sister, Hazel Minish.
He is survived by his daughters, Debbie Morris and Kay Bridges; son, Ted Baxter; and sisters, Elizabeth Stephenson and Dianne Chandler, all of Commerce; eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, November 24, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 25, at Erastus Christian Church, with Mr. Billy Glosson and Mr. Steve Parker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
At the family's request, flowers are optional, or donations may be made to the Erastus Christian Church Cemetery Fund, 2050 Neese Commerce Rd., Commerce, GA 30530.
Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of the arrangements.
