ODESSA -- Elizabeth Finch Hurt was born Aug. 24, 1925, to Hazel and Merkel Finch in Birmingham, Ala. She attended schools in Birmingham. She passed away on June 4, 1997, at home.
On Jan. 25, 1947, she married Gene Hurt in Birmingham. Before coming to Odessa, they lived in Atlanta and Macon, Ga. They were the founders of Hurt, Inc.
Elizabeth opened and operated Hurt Flowers for 20 years. She was a skilled designer and artist.
She was director of the West Texas-New Mexico Florist Association for four years.
After retiring from these jobs, Elizabeth became a homemaker. She belonged to the Lutheran Church of the Risen Lord, West Texas-New Mexico Florist Credit Union and the Dance Society of Midland, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Danny Pate, Chris Hurt, Steve Hurt, Rowdy Granado, Dr. A.B. Finch and Wayne Jones.
Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Garden. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 6, 1997.
