Albert was born in Macon and lived there all of his life until he enlisted in the Marines at the Atlanta Recruiting Office 5 July 1967. He enlisted in the Marines at the age of 17 years, 4 months and 14 days.
After boot camp and infantry training and a short leave at home he was issued orders for Vietnam. He arrived in Vietnam 14 December 1967 and was assigned to Hotel Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. Albert died as a result of fragmentation wounds to the head and body from a hostile booby-trapped mine while on a combat patrol.
Albert was single and served his country for 1year, 6 months and 16 days and was KIA #20,424.
He had been in Vietnam for 1 month and 7 days.
Albert was 18 years and 11 months old and died a month before his 19th birthday.
Survived by his parents, Willie L and Rosie Evans Sr and his sisters, Denver and Christine and brothers, Bernard and Daniel of 957 Woolfolk Street, Macon, Georgia and 2 brothers stationed overseas, 1st Lt Arthur L Evans in Heidelberg, Germany and Sgt Willie Evans Jr in Vietnam.
