Arthur D. Barnes of Fayetteville died Saturday at Lincoln County Hospital following a long illness. He was 85 years old.
Services were Monday at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville, with Dr. Wayne Wiman and the Rev. G. D Marion officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery with Higgins Funeral Home in charge.
A native of Lincoln County, Mr. Barnes was a retired farmer and contractor and member of the Beech Grove Methodist Church. His wife, Mrs. Beulah Johnston Barnes, died in 1936.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Louis Meyer, Evansville, Indiana, and Mrs. Ernestine S. Ellzey, San Antonio, Texas; two sons, Gordon Barnes and Sidney Barnes, both of Fayetteville; a brother, Woodard Barnes, Vernon, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. R. C. Anderson, Wichita Falls, Texas, Mrs. J. Elmer Ramsey and Mrs. Tull K. Smith, both of Fayetteville; 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
