Eliza married Benjamin Shoup on July 20, 1862 in Knox County, Ohio. The couple and their daughter, Frances, left Ohio in 1865 or 1866. Two more daughters, Sarah and Annie, were born in Iowa and Missouri respectively. The family was in Winfield, Lake County, Indiana by 1870 where Benjamin farmed. Nettie and Millie, were born during this time. The family shortly thereafter removed to Indian Creek, Anderson, Kansas, before returning to Indiana by October 1876, where Eliza died of consumption.
