Ray Huston Dies Enroute To Montague

Ray E. Huston, 68, of 4942 West Flynn Lane, Glendale, Ariz., died Saturday at a hospital in Belen, New Mexico where he had been hospitalized during the day. He was taken ill while enroute to Montague with Mrs. Huston and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Woller to spend the summer vacation. He was born Sept. 24, 1895 in Claybanks Township. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Orin Huston. He married Verna Myers Sept. 24, 1919. After their marriage they lived at the Huston homestead for a few years before moving to Detroit. A short time later they purchased the Huston estate from his father and operated a dairy farm. Mr. Huston retired about 12 years ago after selling the farm.
At that time they moved to the Stony Lake are where they lived until six years ago when they went to Arizona.

He served-with the U.S. armed forces during World War I and was a member of the VFW, the Montague Masonic Lodge and the Trinity Lutheran Church at Bradyville. He was a former member of the South Shore Farm Bureau, the Board of Education at the Flower Creek school, and served as a director of the White Lake Market Association.

Surviving are his wife; one son, David of Indian Point, White River Township; one brother, Harvey of White River; four sisters, Mrs. Mabel Bailey and Mrs. Alice Marquardt of White River, Mrs. Nina Lewis of New Era, and Mrs. Pearl Russell of Muskegon; and four grandchildren. Services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Gee Chapel with Rev. Neil Bintz officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery with graveside rites by the Masonic Lodge 198 and taps sounded by the VFW.
