Sister Mary Raphael was of the Sisters of Mercy in New Orleans, Louisiana where she took her novitiate. She chose British Honduras to be her place of service, teaching art and music.
Sister Mary Raphael received a special dispensation from the Pope in 1890 in order to return to the covenant of St. Martinsville in Louisiana. She passed away at the young age of 81. She is interred with her fellow Sisters of Mercy.
