George married Hattie Augusta Vroman on 13 Jul 1935 in East Alton. The marriage took place at the home of her father, Archie James Vroman.
George was a loader at Olin Corporation in Madison County. His wife, Hattie, also worked there, spooling cotton in the ammunition division.
After their marriage ended, Hattie later remarried.

George's second wife was Stella Mae Arnold. They were married on 08 Jun 1945 in Wood River, Illinois. They were the parents of 2 children before their marriage ended.

George worked at Olin for 42 years before his retirement in 1972. He was a life member of Machinist's Lodge 660. He also belonged to the Westerner Club.
George died at Wood River Township Hospital at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 15 days.
He was survived by 2 sons, both of East Alton, Illinois; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Shelley Jardon of Grafton, Illinois; and the mother of his children.
Visitation was held on 15 Dec 1995 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, Illinois. Funeral services were conducted there at 10 a.m. the following morning.
The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to the Salvation Army.
