Mr. Glenn Dewey Yates, 86, of Hogansville, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at his home.

Mr. Yates was born March 11, 1922, in Heard county, son of the late Lunie and Willie Paschal Yates. An Army veteran of World War Two, he lived in Lanett and LaGrange before making his home in Hogansville in 1982, and was a member of Rock of Ages Baptist Church. He retired from Big Star Grocery Co., having served as produce manager in West Point, Lanett, and LaGrange. He is remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and a quiet Christian gentleman.

Survivors include daughters and sons in-law, Glenda and Lamar Brooks of Hogansville, Vickie and Paul Davis of LaGrange, and Judy and Jerry Nelms of Cullman, AL; son and daughter in-law, Glenn, Jr. and Cynthia Yates of LaGrange; sister, Novis King of LaGrange; grandchildren, Sherry and Jim Clemons, Kristie and Keith Hart, William Brooks, Kimberly and Justin Traylor, Jeremy and Elizabeth Nelms, Katie Nelms, Zachary Yates, and Samuel Yates; great-grandchildren, Chris Carter, Caiti Carter, Tori Hart, Serah Hart, Luke Traylor, and Eli Clemons; and a very special friend, Minnie Crozier of Harrisonville. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Eloise Cummings Yates.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald Stone will officiate and interment will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens.
