Janet Lee (McCray) Eckard, 84, of Franklin, W.Va., went to be with her Lord and her husband William Roy “Buck” Eckard on Friday, December 7, 2018 at Pendleton Manor.
She was born March 30, 1934 in the Clover Creek area of Highland County, a daughter to the late Etta (Hoover) and Joseph Clinton McCray.
On September 5, 1953, Janet and Buck were united in marriage and remained lovingly committed to each other for 35 years until his passing on September 13, 1988.

A dedicated member of the Presbyterian church, she enjoyed reading her bible daily until the loss of her sight. She loved bingo, card games, yard sales, country music and fishing. But above all, Janet was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who had an unending love for her family.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Brown and Clyde McCray; as well as, four sisters, Adeline Bodkin, Ethel Bodkin, Lydia Wilfong and Annie Florence Weekley.

Surviving family members include her son, William “Bill” Eckard and wife Tracy of Sugar Grove; two daughters, Martha Lee Phimmasone of Timberville, Va. and Jannetta Sue Eckard and William “Will” Limerick of Buena Vista, Va.; brother, Edison McCray of Bridgewater, Va.; sister, Mary Simmons of Maryland; as well as 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Friday, December 14, 2018 at Obaugh Funeral Home with Calvin Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Head Waters Cemetery.
